Your 3-IN-ONE car maintenance guide

Here are some easy checks you can do to help you travel with less stress this Christmas!

  • Hinges
Apply a few drops of 3-IN-ONE Drip Oil on the door hinges, bonnet latches and seat-track mechanisms.

  • Fluid levels
Have a look at your oil level and try a quick dipstick check, if it’s too low, now’s the time to top it up so the engine has the protection it needs. While you’re there, check you have plenty of screen wash because the dirty winter roads can lead to smeary windows.

  • Tyres
Take a look at your tyres, good tread is so important in winter because it helps the rubber clear water and grip slippery roads. Make sure there is enough depth left by using the 20p text (slot the coin into the grooves, if you can see the outer band, the tread is too low) and check  the pressure of each tyre matches your handbook too.

  • Battery
Cold weather drains battery life quickly, so make sure its holding charge and test your battery in advance.

  • Lights and indicators
Test your lights and indicators by switching them on and walking around the car to make sure each one is bright and working properly. To clean them, you can apply a drop of Drip Oil onto a clean cloth and wipe in a circular motion to make them sparkle!

  • Wipers
Give your wipers a quick try with some screen wash and if they smear the glass or look cracked, it’s time to change them.

  • Check brakes
Listen to what your brakes are trying to tell you. If they are grinding, squeaking or feel soft and spongey on the pedals, they need to be looked at by a professional.

  • Windows
It’s easy to forget to clean the inside the windows but remember to do the inside and the outside because clear glass reduces glare from winter headlights and makes driving in the dark feel much safer!

  • Emergency kit
Winter breakdowns can happen but with your emergency kit in the boot, it’ll take the pressure off. Remember to pack a few bottles of water, a torch, a scraper, a blanket and a small toolkit.

Don’t let a stuck seat track or awkward door keep you from setting off – follow these simple tips in your 3-IN-ONE car maintenance guide and you’ll be well on your way.
