Garden jobs for November

It may feel like, in winter, your gardening tasks should come to a halt, but there are some garden jobs for November that will keep your outdoor space healthy and tidy.

Here are your gardening jobs for November:

  1. Cover delicate plants to prevent frost damage
Tender perennials, annuals, vegetables, herbs and young plants are all things that can benefit from being covered, as this prevents frost damage and the risk of dying off. Wondering what you can cover them with? More or less anything! While there are specific frost cloths you can use, you can also find cheaper alternatives, such as old sheets, blankets, cardboard boxes or containers. We also recommend you apply a layer of mulch around the base of the plants to help insulate the roots.
  2. Keep gutters clear by removing leaves and debris
Now that the leaves are falling, you may find that they’re clogging up your gutter. To prevent leaks and other problems, use a ladder and wear some gloves to scoop out the debris. Have a bin bag to hand so you can immediately dispose of it and save yourself some time sweeping up the ground later. Always check the weather forecast before making a start on your guttering, and if the task seems too big or too difficult, call a professional to help
  3. Protect gardening tools before storing them with 3-IN-ONE Oil Spray
Before cutting back any rogue twigs, stems or dead heading any wilted flowers, clean your gardening tools with your can of Oil Spray and a clean cloth, and attach the red straw to get into the hinges to keep them working their best.

Once you’re happy with your flower beds, hedges and trees, lubricate, clean and prevent rust by protecting your gardening tools again with 3-IN-ONE Oil Spray. A quick after application will keep them ready for storage and spring.
