After a lovely hot summer, you might be feeling refreshed and golden but it’s likely your lawn isn’t. A hot summer leaves behind dry patches, tired mower blades and moss taking over your lovely garden. However, with the right lawn aftercare, you can help your lawn bounce back.
Top tips on lawn aftercare
To get started, you will want to get your mower, rake, grass root feed and your household helper – 3-IN-ONE Degreaser Spray.
Now you’re prepared – follow our 3 simple lawn aftercare steps!
- Mow the lawn
Raise your mower blades to leave the grass a little longer than usual. If you cut it too short, it has to work harder to recover which can make it worse and lead to brown patches. When you use a higher mower setting, it helps to shade the soil, lock in moisture and give the grass a better chance of recovery. - Rake up dry clippings and moss
Throughout the summer old grass trimmings, fallen leaves, petals and moss can smother your lawn and block the sunlight and air from keeping your lawn healthy. Use your rake to gently lift and remove the debris. Clearing this will let your grass breathe and encourage new growth. - Feed the roots
Give your grass some much-needed nutrients! Lawn feed (fertiliser) gives the roots what they need, like nitrogen for greener grass blades, phosphorus for stronger roots and potassium to fight the heat, disease and stress. Apply the feed by following the brand instructions and water it well after so your lawn soaks in all the goodness.
Bonus tip! Once you’ve followed our lawn aftercare tips – remember to treat your mower to your 3-IN-ONE Degreaser Spray to break down the green gunk that has collected around the blades. Clean blades will make lawn aftercare easy and keep your mower going for years to come.
