1. Paint your kitchen cabinets

Whether you’re thinking about a bold hue or a subtle shade, adding a touch of paint to your kitchen cabinets can be a cost-effective way to dramatically transform the space, making it look and feel brand new! Make a start this bank holiday August and:

  1. Remove the cabinet doors and hardware.

  2. Clean and sand the surfaces, give them a good clean to make sure they’re free of grease and grime.

  3. Apply a primer, this will help the paint to go on more smoothly as it enhances paint adhesion and ensures durability as well as a professional-looking finish.

  4. Paint your cabinets using a brush for intricate details and a roller for larger areas.

  5. Reattach the doors and screw the hardware back on.

3-IN-ONE tip: use warm, soapy water to wash the paint brushes and use your 3-IN-ONE Drip Oil to restore the flexibility and softness of the bristles. Use excess solution to polish handles – this will keep rust away and your painting equipment lasting longer.

2. Remove skirting boards

Skirting boards are notorious for harbouring dust and dirt, and for becoming dull. So, if you’re looking to refresh your space, look at your skirting boards – who knows, it might lead to refreshing your walls or installing new flooring. To get started this bank holiday August, follow these steps:

  1. Loosen the tops of the skirting boards using a pen knife, this will help to break the seal between the board and the wall.

  2. Pry them away carefully with a crowbar. Start at one end and work your way down to avoid damaging the wall and remove any nails left behind using pliers.

  3. Vacuum around the area and deep clean the skirting boards with a damp cloth.

  4. Prime the skirting boards so they’re ready to be repainted.

  5. Re-paint the skirting boards and allow them to dry before reattaching to the wall

3-IN-ONE tip: use your Multi-Purpose Oil Spray on your tools to lubricate, clean and prevent rust forming on your tools – this will keep them looking and working like new.

3. Regrout your tiles

For a fresh, updated look in your kitchen or bathroom, choose a grout that’s either darker or one that matches your tiles. If there’s one thing you do in bank holiday August, you’ll want to follow these steps when regrouting your tiles:

  1. Remove the old grout using a grout saw or a multi-tool with a grout removal blade.

  2. Clean the gaps between the tiles to help the new grout attach properly.

  3. Mix the new grout by following the specific brand instructions.

  4. Apply the grout with a grout float, press it firmly into the gaps.

  5. Wipe excess grout away with a damp sponge, make sure to catch it before it dries.

3-IN-ONE tip: use your Multi-Purpose Oil Spray on your grout removal blade to prevent rust and keep it in good condition.
