The good news is that not every home improvement needs to take an entire weekend. Some of the most satisfying DIY home projects are quick ones – the small fixes that instantly make home feel quieter and easier to live in. 

With just a few minutes and the right 3-IN-ONE products, you can tick off the tasks on your list. 

DIY home project: doors and handles

Have you noticed stiff, dull or scratched door handles and are they making your doors feel older than they actually are? 

This quick DIY home project guide will restore its movement and give your handles a quick style refresh, so they look ready as you are for spring. 

What you need: 

  • Screwdriver 
  • Fine sandpaper  
  • Metal primer and spray paint 
  • 3-IN-ONE Multi-Purpose Drip Oil 
  • Clean cloth 

How to do it: 

  1. Remove the door handle using a screwdriver and separate the handle from the door. 
  1. If the handle looks worn, lightly sand the surface and wipe it clean. 
  1. Apply a suitable metal primer followed by your chosen spray paint colour – matte black, brushed gold or a fun colour to complement the home. Allow it to dry. 
  1. Before reinstalling the handle, add a few drops of Drip Oil to the internal moving parts of the mechanism.  
  1. Refit the handle and tighten the screws. 
  1. Turn the handle several times to work the oil into the mechanisms. 

Ta-da! Your door handles now look refreshed and turn without a sound. 

DIY home projects: sticky door locks 

If your door lock is making you late for work because it keeps jamming, it’s time to remove that frustration. This quick DIY home project will put a stop to jiggling the keys and bring back a fully functioning lock. 

What you need: 

  • 3-IN-ONE Penetrant Spray 
  • 3-IN-ONE Multi-Purpose Spray  
  • Clean cloth 

How to do it: 

  1. Spray 3-IN-ONE Penetrant Spray directly into the keyhole to break down grime that might be sitting inside and causing the jam. 
  1. Insert the key and gently turn a few times to work it in. 
  1. Wipe away excess from the key and lock. 
  1. Add a small amount of Drip Oil into the key to keep the internal parts moving. 
  1. Insert the key again and lock/unlock to distribute the oil evenly. 

Optional extra – if the lock plate or the surrounding hardware looks worn, this could be your opportunity to replace or polish the decorative plate. To polish – a clean cloth and your Drip Oil will do the job perfectly! 

DIY home project: sliding door tracks

It shouldn’t be a hassle opening your sliding doors, so if you’re feeling resistance, it’s time to clean and lubricate the tracks. 

This simple DIY home project will restore the easy glide and make your doors feel newer and easier to use. 

What you need: 

  • Vacuum cleaner  
  • Clean cloth  
  • 3-IN-ONE Silicone Spray  

How to do it: 

  1. Open the sliding door fully so you have access to the full track. 
  1. Use your vacuum to remove dust.  
  1. Wipe the track clean with a dry cloth to remove anything remaining. 
  1. Apply a light spray of Silicone Spray along the entire length of the track.  
  1. Slide the door back and forth to work it in. 

DIY home projects: uPVC windows 

uPVC windows are built to last but over time the moving parts can still become stubborn. Accumulation of dust and dirt can affect the hinges, runners and locking parts, and this is when you’ll notice opening and closing isn’t as easy as it used to be. 

This quick DIY home project will bring back easy opening and closing and keep your windows working like new.  

What you need:  

  • 3-IN-ONE Silicone Spray  
  • Clean cloth  

How to do it: 

  1. Open the window fully, so you can get to the hinges, runners and locking points. 
  1. Lightly apply your Silicone Spray onto these parts.  
  1. Wipe away excess with a clean cloth. 
  1. Open and close the window a few times to get the spray into all the moving parts. 

Optional extra – while you’re working on the window, wipe down the frames and check the seals. Cleaning the frame and removing built-up dirt can make your windows look brighter and better maintained.
